Tenant Services: FREE

OnTrack’s Tenant Services offer information, financial counseling, and education classes to individuals who have a goal to get into stable, affordable rental housing, or a goal to stabilize their current rental situation.  The program's focus is long-term sustainability, not emergency assistance.  Our services include:

  • Financial Counseling with an emphasis on budgeting to pay the rent.
  • Rental Education classes, which cover how to conduct a rental search and how to establish and maintain a mutually beneficial, professional relationship with the landlord.  Click here for our class schedule.
  • Information and Referral is given over the phone including information about Landlord/Tenant law.
  • Advocacy regarding landlord/tenant disputes.

The HomeBase Program combines all these services in one program.  Individuals who meet income requirements and complete all the program requirements are eligible for rental assistance for a security deposit and the first month’s rent.  It takes an average of 3 months to complete this program.

Our Rental Guide provides information about affordability, landlord/tenant law. Our Property Supplement provides a comprehensive property listing. Hard copies are available at our office or a Buncombe County library.
