If you answered mostly (12+) “always” or “usually”: You are a
super-shopper and use many techniques for saving money. You probably have a big freezer and it’s usually full. Your coupons are organized and up-to-date and you know the layout of all your favorite supermarkets. You’ll go out of your way to find a bargain. Things to watch for:

Do you buy more than you can use?
You may sometimes bite off more than you can chew and wind up throwing spoiled food away. Are you spending an hour to save a few pennies?

If you answered mostly (12+)“occasionally”: You know you could be
saving more, but may not want to spend the time needed to save big. Things to watch for: Short-cuts to save time can get out of hand and become costly.

Keep an eye on the total you are spending on food – it’s easy to let the odd take-out meal or frozen dinner edge the budget into the red. Try
incorporating one new tip a week until you reach your target food
budget.

If you answered mostly (12+) “rarely” or “never”: There’s hope for the future: you can reap BIG savings on your food budget by using some neat tricks & tips regularly. Things to watch for: Living on fast food
doesn’t do you health any more good than your budget. Try to reach your budget goal a few changes at a time–that’s easier to stick with than a radical overhaul of habits. Consider sharing cooking and shopping with other family members who might like the job.
